DESERT DIAMOND DISTILLERY
A diamond in the desert, Desert Diamond Distillery is a real working Distillery. 100% family owned and operated, D3 is located just off scenic Highway 66 at the Kingman Airport. The Distillery is just four miles from I-40, easy to get to for travelers and sightseers alike. The Distillery is one of a few in the state that is open to the public, and has the privilege of having a retail outlet with a famous tasting bar that was rescued from a famous French restaurant on the old Las Vegas strip. This bar was known to be a favorite place of the Rat Pack, and many others of that era back in the day. All four rums and a vodka are craft certified by the American Distilling Institute (ADI). That means that all are fermented and distilled 100% by us in Kingman, AZ.

KINGMAN AIRPORT HISTORY
The Kingman Municipal Airport, also known as the Kingman Army Airfield, was founded at the start of World War II and was as one of the nation's largest aerial training bases. After the war, the Kingman Airfield served as one of the nation's top reclamation sites for outdated military aircraft. It became open to civilian use in 1949 and at this time, The Kingman Army Airfield Historical Society was established that maintained records and artIfacts from the site. In 2010, an inspection of the site revealed soil contamination and in 2013 until July 2014, the land was rehabilitated for safe use, by removing the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAHs) from the soil.
Kingman Army Airfield was established as a training base for Army Air Force aerial gunners. In addition to the main base, the Kingman Ground to Ground Gunnery Range and Kingman Air to Air Gunnery Range was located about six miles north of the present city limits of the City of Kingman. From this point, the former practice gunnery ranges extended northward approximately 31 miles, generally following the Hualapai Valley. To support the training at the main facility, Yucca Army Airfield operated several emergency landing strips.

HISTORY & SIGNIFICANCE OF US ROUTE 66
US Highway 66, popularly known as “Route 66,” is significant as the nation’s first all-weather highway linking Chicago to Los Angeles.
Route 66 reduced the distance between Chicago and Los Angeles by more than 200 miles, which made Route 66 popular among thousands of motorists who drove west in subsequent decades. Like other highways of its day, Route 66 reflects the origin and evolution of road transportation in the United States. Not only does Route 66 underscore the importance of the automobile as a technological achievement, but, perhaps equally important to the American psyche, it symbolized unprecedented freedom and mobility for every citizen who could afford to own and operate a car. In response the federal government pledged to link small town USA with all of the metropolitan capitals.
The period of historical significance for Route 66 is 1926 to 1985. The national system of public highways brought geographic cohesion and economic prosperity to the disparate regions of the country.
