Before Travel Information About Formentera:

Formentera in the Balearics, is definitely worth a visit and is a very popular tourist destination with people visiting Ibiza. The island of Formentera, is located in the Mediterranean sea and just 17 kilometers (10.5 Miles) from Ibiza itself.

Formentera, is certainly much quieter than its neighbouring island of Ibiza and has now become one of the most popular day trips with tourists from Ibiza.

Formentera How To Get There:

Getting to Formentera from Ibiza is very easy, especially during the Summer months. The Ibiza to Formentera boat trip, allows people to travel to and from the islands very quickly and at regular intervals throughout the day.

There are regular Ferry services, that run from the main Port in Ibiza, to the main Port in Formentera, which is called ‘La Savina’.

The ferry crossing takes approximately 30 minutes.

How Do I Get From Ibiza Airport To Formentera:

Formentera itself, does not actually have its own airport and if you are wishing to get to Formentera, you will need to fly to Ibiza International Airport. From Ibiza Airport, you will then need to make your way to the main Port in Ibiza, either by taxi or local bus service. Once you have reached the main Port, you can then take the Ferry across from Ibiza to Formentera.

Formentera Beaches:

One thing that Formentera is famous for, as well as its chilled out, laid back atmosphere, is its stunning beaches.

There are several beaches on the island and the more popular are:

Cala Es Ram
Cala Saona Beach
Caló des Mort
Es Arenals Beach
Es Pujols Beach
Es Racó de S’Alga Bach on Espalmador Island

The beaches on the island provide visitors with beautiful white sand and turquoise crystal waters. They offer a range of water sports and activities such as sailing, kitesurfing, snorkeling and scuba diving. There are now several places to stay on the island, that cater for all requirements and budgets.

Although the nightlife on Formentera is nothing compared to the nightlife on the island of Ibiza, Formentera certainly has a vibrant night scene. There are now many bars where you can enjoy a drink or too, while listening to the chilled out music as you watch the sunsets.
