Carnival in the Netherlands, also known as ‘Carnaval’, is celebration in the Southern, Catholic region of the Netherlands.
Celebrated in and around the province of Noord-Brabant, This year the carnival starts from Friday 25 February to Tuesday 1 March 2022.
The annual celebration sees locals suspend their daily life for three days and visitors travel from all over the world to enjoy traditional Dutch events.
Throughout the carnival, locals and visitors dress up in crazy and extravagant costumes; which include the traditional ‘role reversal’. A range of parades featuring floats and performances can be found throughout the major cities. Bar crawls, outrageous city name changes and official colours can all be found during this event.
It is possible to have a party again and to enjoy together in a good way.
Everyone wants to celebrate a fun and safe carnival. During these days, security teams are active in the city center. You will also find them at the taxi rank and the stops of the Leut buses. They work together with BOAs and the police to keep the city center cozy and safe.
To keep the city center safe during Carnival, use of glass is not allowed, such as drinking glasses or bottles.
